A FAMILY STORY SPANNING THREE GENERATIONS

André Poujade glovemaking, expertise passed down from generation to generation. Since 1949, our company has perpetuated the art of handmade gloves, respecting traditional craftsmanship and careful selection of materials. Passing down our high standards from generation to generation is part of our DNA.

The André Poujade glove shop was founded in 1949 by master glove maker André Poujade in Millau, Aveyron. He was assisted in this venture by his father-in-law, François Calmes. He was joined in 1973 by Marie-Hélène, André Poujade's daughter, who founded the "Ganterie André Poujade" boutique in Montpellier. For nearly 40 years, Marie-Hélène provided gloves for several generations of Montpellier residents.

As a child, Anne-Laure (André's granddaughter) often visited the family factory. She enjoyed smelling the leather, visiting Annie the seamstress and Jacqui the cutter, and talking with her great-grandfather about wrapping the gloves in tissue paper. Naturally, Anne-Laure continued her apprenticeship in the shop with her mother. She learned to glove in the traditional way: dusting the hand with powder, tucking in the thumb, and then the rest of the fingers. Understanding different skins: lamb, peccary, etc. Linings: silk, cashmere, etc. Observing from a hand to determine the size, listening to customers' wishes to best meet their desires.

Naturally curious, Anne-Laure seeks inspiration through books, exhibitions, nature, etc.

All these experiences, as well as human encounters, have allowed Anne-Laure to create collections inspired by her time, while incorporating her family heritage.
